Seasonal Events

  • The Malta League of Arts holds an annual meeting of the general membership that is dedicated to our non-Board members and individuals interested in becoming members.  We talk about what the League has been working on, what has been accomplished, and plans for the future.  We invite members to join our Board, as space allows, and to present recommendations for policies, procedures and activities to be pursued during the coming year.

The Malta League of Arts is a member-driven and member-responsive organization.  We welcome participation by anyone who wants to be actively engaged in the Malta League of Arts.

  • Bring original artwork or art supplies to exchange for something new!

This year will be our first Art Swap, to be held June 3, 2023 at the lovely, historic Round Lake Auditorium.

Details and guidelines are being developed for this event, and will appear here soon.

  • Give your creativity a kick start!  These presentations will feature someone in the arts community either talking about their work or creative process, or presenting a class.

Check back to see details of upcoming events!

  • Are you having trouble getting started on a creative project?

Do you need a space to work on your art, away from the distractions of home?

Would you find it helpful to bounce ideas off other creatives?

Come join other members of the Malta League of Arts (MLA) for a monthly open studio.

  • Join your child in a morning of seasonal crafts and light refreshments.

This event will take place on December 2, 2023 at the Malta Community Center.  It will be open to all children accompanied by an adult, and there will be different stations for all ages to create winter art projects.

Please check back to see details as they become available!

  • We would like to see your artwork and share it with our community!  Every month or two we will propose a topic or theme.  The challenge may be to take a seasonal photo, paint an abstract painting, or create a representation of your pet.  We’ll send all members the details in an email and post it in this space on our web page.  Entries will be submitted via the Malta League of Arts Facebook page.  We will post all entries here and on our Facebook and Instagram pages, with information about you, the creator.  One entry in each challenge will be selected by the Malta League of Arts Art Challenge Committee to be a “Finalist”.    At the end of the year, one piece of artwork will be selected from all Finalists to be used on the cover of that year’s Malta League of Arts Brochure, with a modest cash award and credit attributed to the artist.  Remember, only members are allowed to participate!

Stay tuned for details about our first challenge!
